One of the most exciting fields in demography is the biodemography of aging. This field explores the complementary biological and demographic determinants of, and interactions between, the developmental and aging processes that shape individuals, cohorts and populations. CPHA is a leader in biodemography in two distinct areas:
- Biodemography: genomics of aging-related disease processes such as Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias and cancers
- Biosocial Demography: a focus on social disparities with biological factors such as biomarkers or epigenetic measures
